Martin Ralph
Biography
Mr Martin Ralph is the Managing Director of IFAP. As part of his role Martin manages the implementation of IFAP’s occupational safety and health consulting services.
Prior to joining IFAP, Mr. Ralph was appointed as a Special Inspector of Mines with the WA Government Department of Minerals & Energy where he specialised in matters related to radiation, ventilation and occupational hygiene. Mr Ralph has also spent several years with one of Australia's premiere mining houses, Western Mining Corporation (WMC), initially as a Radiation and Safety Technician, and then later as Radiation and Safety Officer on WMC's Olympic Dam and Yeelirrie Projects.
Martin has developed and delivered a wide range of training programmes, including a United Nations sponsored programme for radiation protection and occupational health and safety specialists in the South East Asian tin and among mining industry.
Most recently he has written the nationally accredited Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health for Project Managers, which was cited twice in the Chamber of Minerals and Energy’s Best Practice in Applicable Training Case Studies. Martin also designed and developed the nationally accredited training programme that is mandated as the requirement for the statutory appointed position of Surface Ventilation Officer for mining operations. Martin has also led a number of organisational safety culture improvement projects, utilising techniques developed and endorsed by Professor E Scott Geller, a renowned world leader in the field of Behavioural Based Safety.
Martin has completed a Bachelor of Science - Environmental Science, and Honours in Environmental Physics and is currently completing a Masters of Organisational Psychology programme through Murdoch University. He is an accredited WorkSafe Plan Assessor, a Certified Category 2 Trainer, and is a member of the IFAP Board of Directors.
